The Freelton Antique Mall: Eclectic, Exquisite & Eccentric

Sample of 5'x8' Booth at the Freelton Antique Mall
The 'mall' is a buzzing beehive filled with magnificent & mundane bounty ...
Well worth a visit to Freelton, Ontario. The adjacent 'Thai' cafe is e-e-eccentric too!
Check out my latest review (with a walk-about video) in Raise the Hammer.

Hamilton Beach Walkabout ...

In contrast to the escarpment, the lake offers something completely different.
Played hookey for a few hours and put together this 4 minute vid. Enjoy.

(If the VIMEO video frame isn't appearing, blame Google, owners of Blogger and YouTube.
They don't own VIMEO ... ) Try this link instead ... https://vimeo.com/59609524

Zimsculpt @ Royal Botanical Gardens, 2012

Zimsculpt at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Ontario, Canada from canadada on Vimeo.

Not overly happy with this VIMEO 'upload' above. A few musical glitches grate - BUT I think the images of the sculptures are well worth the agra. All in all, this showcase of Shona sculptors & sculpture from Zimbabwe is a wonderful outdoor exhibition packed with Talent & Soul.  Highly recommend. All sculptures are 'For Sale' ranging in price from $40 to $4000. Well worth it, in my opinion, plus $12 Admission. Runs until October.

Music in the slideshow above by the irreplaceable B.B. King.
(Recording & sync'ing gaffs all mine ... )

End of Lakeland - VIDEO LINK

I've had a number of repeat requests to see the video from my spring newsletter.
I've decided to post it again. Just click on the link below:

The music was composed by Avro Part (umlaut over the a)
entitled, 'Spiegel im Spiegel', a lovely piece of music.
This slideshow/video was created soon after I learned
that my studio had been 'sold' unexpectedly in November of 2011.

Somewhat surprisingly, I'm still here ... For how long, I don't know.
... we must count these small blessings wherever we can ...

Enjoy.

Chris Hedges: 'Brace Yourself! The American Empire is Over'. VIDEO

It's not often that I promote 'other' artists/authors/activists, but effective of the beginning of this year, I have decided to do just that. First up is a very provocative 2 hour 'interview' with noted war-journalist and author, Christopher Hedges. This thoughtful fellow truly stands on the side of 'truth & justice'. Sit back, give it a listen: and then consider how YOU are helping to shape the future of this, our finite & beautiful planet. Happy New Year.  :)

A Fractal Gem for the New Year

... thought I'd get things started for the year with another fractal odyssey. The following slide-show is the result of 'tinkering' with ONE little ol' fractal. The possibilities are, by fractal definition, endless ...    ENJOY!

From canadadaPHOTOGRAPHY

p.s. For more information & additonal visuals about 'fractals' on this blog, type 'fractals' in the SEARCH box on the right ...

Here's an alternate 'viewing tablet'. I'm still TRYING to figure out which is the BEST of these video formats. No sooner do I figure one out with all the bells & whistles when they re-design it!!

Vimeo seems to have done just that since I last tried them out ....

Prince Charles in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Since this location is a stone's throw from here, it's kinda fun to know that such world famous people were trotting around the neighbourhood. This broadcast brought to you from 'The Royal Channel' on 'YouTube'.

... the walk-about ... VIDEO

NB: Dateline: Oct 22th, 2009: If you are seeing 'no video' or are receiving a 'jerky, jittery' video, don't despair. VIMEO is experiencing 'technical difficulties' ... I've been assured this will be 'fixed' in the next few days ... I'm leaving this video up 'as is' until the end of the month so they can perform their techno-magic. Will see where it's all at then (...geesh. comPUTahhhs...)

The summer of 2009 was lousy here, weather-wise. Fall has been better, but, even so, kinda pukey. There WERE, however, a few stellar days during September that kinda made one want to go SILLY!

Sooooooo, guess what?
Yup, I went on a short & silly 'walk-about'.

As you can see, there's nothing very SERIOUS here, nothing EARTH SHATTERING, BIG or BREAKING!! I is just offering a quiet little five minutes two-step shuffle between me, my Self and I.

... sometimes those really are the BEST moments ...

Toronto Fall 2009

Just spent four daze ZOOMING around Toronto, catching up with friends & places after 10 years ...

This wee soundless-slideshow documents several choice encounters with Toronto-centric 'time & space'.

It's a bit rough, but I think it does the trick.

Toronto is a great YOUNG metropolis, a very KEEN place. It's backbone WAS Anglo, but it's future is TOTALLY multi-cultural.

Perhaps that is why so much of the 'new' architecture is so splendidly STARK, and seemingly 'simple'.

Toronto presents itself INTERNATIONALLY as 'ethnic neutral'.

At the moment.
